next idea GmbH, parent company of the international online games publisher Looki, acquired wwg worldwidegames GmbH located in Hamburg/Germany. The acquisition includes the portal playnik.com and all of their private brands. The acquisition of this internationally established publisher, enables next idea GmbH to broaden its activities in the online gaming field strategically. Simultaneously wwg will be capable to utilize Looki’s distribution channels to create an even stronger awareness in the market for their high-quality games, Rage of Storms (building-strategy game) and Desert Blitz (round-based-strategy game).

Enjoy Games GmbH, who’s major share is owned by next idea GmbH, will be responsible for the further development and the support of wwg’s games. Furthermore Looki and wwg will interchange their partner network to be capable of placing their titles even more significantly in the markets.

Browser Game Rage of Storms Launches Open Beta

Rage of Storms was developed by morgen studios and will be published exclusively by WWG including the marketing and hosting as well as the global community support.

Rage of Storms transports its players to a desert region in the middle of the 21st century. After the squandering of resources by humans in the past, the final race of the international community for the planet’s dwindling raw materials has started. The pollution caused by this wasteful use of resources had such a severe impact on the weather that the “era of the raging sandstorms” – the “Rage of Storms” – began.

Now, a few years later, the weather has calmed down again and humans are exploring the desert in the hope of discovering the black gold: oil. The aim of the player is to build a base and tap new oil deposits in the desert in order to take back to their country as much of the precious resource as possible. During their quest, players must compete with other commanders and keep on the unpredictable sandstorms to avoid jeopardizing their mission.

WWG worldwidegames GmbH gains new partner Kongregate

The Hamburg-based company wwg worldwidegames GmbH (WWG) announced today its co-operation with the American gaming portal Kongregate.com. WWG’s popular game Nemexia is now available to play on www.kongregate.com. Desert Blitz and Pirates of Tortuga 2 will follow in the near future.

“The co-operation with such a key-player as kongregate.com, in the gaming industry and the US, represents a major step for us,” says Philip Dipner, Managing Director of WWG. “With Kongregate, we’re gaining a high-class partner who will give us a strong boost in our plans to expand to the US.”
